How it started
In December of 2021 I went to Holiday Matsuri 2021 at the Orlando World Center in Orlando FL. Holiday Matsuri is an anime convention that is Christmas themed. I cosplayed as different Pokemon characters such as Charizard, Gengar, and Snorlax. I brought my camera gear to record video and take pictures of my experience.
I entered the convention and made my way over to the vendor room where various vendors were selling items. I was in the back of the room looking at different booths when I saw a Ford Mustang with Fairy Tail on the side. I looked closer and saw that it was themed after Erza Scarlet, one of the characters in the anime Fairy Tail. I looked over the area and saw more Itasha. There were 7 Itasha vehicles in total, 6 cars and 1 motorcycle. The Itasha display was put on by Cosplay and Cars. They are trying to bring car fans and anime fans together through Itasha.
What is Itasha?
If you don’t know what Itasha is from reading between the lines above. Itasha is a car that has anime on it. People enjoy putting anime characters on their cars to display their love for their favorite anime character or series. But an Itasha can also be a car with video game, comic book, and manga characters on it. Motorcycles also get in on the fun and are called Itasha.
What Itasha/Itansha did I see?
Armed with my mirrorless Sony Alpha 7 II in my hand for pictures and my Sony FDR-X3000 action cam on my shoulder for video. I took pictures and videos of the Itasha and Itansha I saw.
Click on the Itasha name to got straight to the paragraph about it.
Fairy Tail Itasha
The first Itasha I saw was xxchawizardxx’s Ford Mustang, Fairy Tail Itasha. It was symmetrical with Erza Scarlet on both sizes and the hood. Also there was tire writing on the tires. It said Fairy Tail Erza Scarlet on all four tires which I thought was cool. Plus there was a Erza licence plate on the back. You can see xxchawizardxx on instagram.
Demon Slayer Itasha
Next I walked over to nhisenpai’s Subaru Brz, Demon Slayer Itasha. It had Kyōjurō Rengoku in street wear on both sides. A windshield banner that said “Set your Heart Ablaze“. And a personalized license plate that says $layer which is cool and clever. You can find nhisenpai on instagram.
Azur Lane Itasha
Moving along I saw razritasha’s 2014 Scion Tc, Azur Lane Itasha. It was themed after Battleship Kii of the Sakura Empire. With Battleship Kii symmetrically on both sides, the Sakura Empire logo on the hood, various slap stickers, and possibly some Kurumi Tokisaki mech in the interior I didn’t get a good look with my cameras. Razritasha is on Instagram if you want to check them out.
Akame ga Kill! Itansha
The only Itansha there was hikoshiandi’s 2015 Honda CB500f, Akame ga Kill! Itansha. It sat on a Honda racing rug with a Akame ga Kill! scroll being used as a banner. Akame was on the side fairings and fuel tank. Also there were some Christmas decorations, blending in with the theme of the convention. Is hikoshiandi on Instagram? They sure are.
My Hero Academia Itasha
Next is digital_strike’s Toyota Corolla, My Hero Academia Itasha. It was an overload of Deku. Deku was symmetrically on both sizes, many Deku figures in the interior on the front dash and rear deck, Deku front license plate, Deku stickers all over the car, It even has its own Instagram page called toyota_deku There is more than just Deku on the car but Deku stands out so much it’s all I could really focus on. Also there is Todoroki and Bakugo alongside Deku on the hood. And Class 1 A on the front and rear bumpers. Plus a My Hero Academia personalized license plate because of course there would be one. In conclusion toyota_deku is the name of the Instagram page for the car. Digital_strike is the name of the instagram of the owner of the car. Also https://www.digital-strike.net/ is the website of the owner.
KanColle Itasha
Trucking along, I saw woclass_weeb’s Nissan 180SX, I think it’s a KanColle Itasha. I just did 10 mins of googling and that’s what I could figure out. A character known as Aircraft Carrier Wo-Class was symmetrically on both sizes. With Kanji on the right side and English on the left it was a nice east meets west thing going on. The back window was covered with anime stickers which may be trying to lead people to Weeb Garage. But a las Woclass_weeb is on that Instagram app if you are looking for more info.
Kingdom Hearts 2 Itasha
Keeping er moving, next I saw atomikku.jp’s toyota supra, Kingdom Hearts 2 Itasha. Sora was on the right side of the Supra. Roxas was on the left side Supra. With both of them on the hood. Plus there was a Japanese license plate which was a welcome change from what I have seen before. Atomikku.jp is on instagram and has their own site at https://atomikku.com/
